Cisco buying Orative in $31M deal

Cisco is set to buy Orative for US$31 million

Cisco Systems announced an agreement Thursday to acquire Orative for US$31 million in cash.

The start-up has 33 employees and makes an application that allows users to access corporate directories from cell phones and smart phones, while also giving information on whether the contact can be reached via text, voice or other means, Cisco said in a statement.

Orative Enterprise Software will work with several of Cisco's existing voice products, including Unified CallManager for call control, Cisco MeetingPlace for collaboration and City Unity for voice mail, Cisco said.

The deal is expected to close early next year and will be Cisco's 115th acquisition once it is final, company officials said.
