Hostworks ties up SaaS deal

Web hosting provider, Hostworks, has signed has signed the local office of BizEd Services to a three-year Software as a Service (SaaS) agreement, incorporating Microsoft's Exchange and Office applications.

Hostworks sales and marketing director, Klaus Bartosch, said the contract was a great win for the business, particularly as BizEd had originally been a customer acquired by default when it purchased Dimension Data Central in 2003.

"When you acquire a business you need to re-earn the respect of its customers because they don't know who you are," he said.

Bartosch said he believed the provider had been up against two other competitors but he was unable to name them.

The SaaS solution proposed by Hostworks gives BizEd employees access to Microsoft Exchange, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio as hosted versions of the applications.

Hostworks will bill the training company on a per-user, per-month basis.

"BizEd was looking for a solution that allowed it not worry about managing its IT environment," Bartosch said. "It wanted something that covered day-to-day needs and scale at will."
