In a bid to encourage consumer confidence in telecommunication service providers, the Australian Communications Industry Forum (ACIF) is seeking public comment on a draft code that seeks to make contracts more legible.
The new code seeks to ensure that the terms of contracts between suppliers and residential or small business consumers are fair, accessible, legible and able to be readily understood.
The code covers contracts for mobile, home and small business phone services as well as internet services.
ACIF Chief Executive Officer Anne Hurley said the code is on track to be published by December, and then sent to the Australian Communications Authority for registration.
Members of the public who wish to comment on the draft code can download a copy from the ACIF website, www.acif.org.au. The public comment period closes on November 5.
