Nortel Makes Commander Platinum Partner

 • 27 November, 2006 12:59

SYDNEY, Australia – Commander Communications Limited (ASX: CDR) has achieved Platinum status in Nortel’s nPower partner program as a result of significant business growth in the past 12 months.

Commander is only the second company in Australia to achieve Platinum status, giving it access to more technical personnel and premium Nortel support, a larger share of business development marketing resources and a higher profile status with its Nortel customers.

Commander’s General Manager of Enterprise Sales, Steve Evans, said: “the company would continue to grow its portfolio of Nortel IP telephony solutions for all levels of Australian business, from SMEs to corporate enterprise, and to develop next-generation IP communications solutions for customers across Australia.

“Nortel and Commander have been working together for more than a decade. Commander provides a 360-degree communications solution spanning voice, data, mobility and network products and services, supported by more than 300 highly skilled field engineers operating around Australia. I expect the Platinum status to give us even more momentum to push on in our markets and raise the bar even higher for our enterprise customers,” said Evans.

Nick Avakian, General Manager, Enterprise Solutions, Australia and New Zealand, Nortel, said: “nPower partners like Commander have the right combination of skills and resources to build powerful networks for their customers, with access to the broadest range of IP and converged communications technologies and innovations from Nortel and other market leaders.

“We’ve invested a lot of effort into refining our partner program and finding the right mix of high-end distributors and resellers through our nPower initiative,” he said. “Commander has consistently exceeded volume projections with Nortel’s advanced IP communications and next-generation convergence products in all areas of industry and hit every benchmark in taking our portfolio of products and solutions to market. Now Commander joins the very highest level of enterprise distribution in the region.”

Since attaining Gold nPower status last year, Commander has been providing a variety of Nortel solutions to enterprises, including IP contact centres, hybrid IP communications and converged applications. Recent successes include sales to business platform developer Avanteos, Banking and Financial Services Ombudsman Limited, and Queensland’s Toowoomba City Council.
