KVM switch and network infrastructure management vendor, Avocent, has added Firewall Systems to its distributor ranks.
The security distributor's marketing director, Nick Verykios, said it had discussed distribution opportunities with data management vendor, Cyclades, about a year ago. Avocent acquired Cyclades in January for $US90 million.
Verykios said the new distribution relationship with Avocent would enable Firewall and its resellers to support the secure management of a data centre from a remote location. He highlighted government, enterprise and telco as key markets.
"We are also able to offer partners other services including presales and configuration support," Verykios said. "The configuration tool helps resellers create a quote that is going to be 100 per cent accurate. It is not just buying a box."
Comsol also distributes the Avocent range. Avocent managing director, Leanne Ramsay, said adding Firewall would give the vendor greater reach into the local security market.
"We see it as an opportunity for us to continue our growth," she said. "We will work with both distributors in a collaborative approach that includes lead generation, seminars and re-educating the market on the benefits of server secured management for infrastructure."
