Network Appliance has completed its acquisition of Topio but it won't be until early next year before new products will make their way into the channel.
NetApp acquired Topio in November, mainly for its Data Protection Suite, which allows customers with data on non-Network Appliance systems to replicate it onto a NetApp system. The vendor's products are aimed at the mid-tier market.
Although the acquisition was completed last week, it wouldn't be until the next round of reseller and partner training in late January or early February that NetApp would offer the product to the channel, marketing director, Mark Heers, said.
"It is still pretty early days. Until we finished the acquisition we really couldn't do much. Now we can start taking action," he said.
As well as data replication, Topio also offers Disaster Recovery. Heers said it planned to emphasise the technology area as an opportunity for its resellers.
"[Topio's] Disaster Recovery allows customers to make a choice independent of what they have in their data centre," he said.
NetApp expected to build the Topio migration tool into its service portfolio, Heers said. The DR would be offered more as a standalone product.
