IT&T services outfit, Brennan IT, has established an application development division. It will sit alongside its technology sourcing, infrastructure integration and managed services.
General manager of sales and marketing, Matthew Lovegrove, said the company wanted to help clients integrate their applications to operate as one system. The company is also looking to publish software applications. "What we are doing is more inline with application processes. Offering this type of service helps lower costs, increases productivity and solves a lot of the organisational information woes for clients," he said.
Managing director, Dave Stevens, said it was currently putting together an applications management team. He estimated Brennan would employ 100 - 150 staff for the division. Building up the team was hard task, Stevens said, because of the lack of appropriate skills available in the market.
Brennan IT is also on acquisition hunt for ISPs and hardware or software vendors wanting to break into the services arena. In addition, Lovegrove said it would consider acquiring players in a similar field to Brennan.
"We are after businesses operating in the SMB market which haven't figured out how to move into the services space that can also strengthen our ability to offer telco and management services," he said.
