Fitness First Gets its Data in Shape with QAS

<p>SYDNEY, Australia – 9 November 2006 – QAS, one of Australia’s leading address management specialists, announced today that Fitness First, Australia's largest health club operator, has reduced its return-to-sender mail by 50 percent and greatly improved the accuracy of its membership database since purchasing and installing QuickAddress Pro, QuickAddress Batch and QuickAddress Pro Web from QAS.</p>
<p>With 57 clubs nationally and 350,000 active and inactive members, Fitness First relies heavily on its customer database to keep track of members for billing and debt collection purposes.</p>
<p>“Bad debts are common in many businesses, however what surprised us was the amount of bad debt that was directly attributable to address problems,” said Brad Estrich, database administrator for Fitness First. “We needed to streamline our data entry processes so we could validate existing addresses and ensure data accuracy at the point of new entries. With approximately 15,000 membership contracts per month, speed and reliability is fundamental.”</p>
<p>Estrich adds, “We also wanted a solution that would help reduce our return-to-sender mail and improve the company’s debt collection hit rate. Previously we had a low hit rate with outstanding debts and often could not contact individuals because they had changed address or provided incorrect address data in the first place.”</p>
<p>By verifying addresses before they are entered into a database, QuickAddress Pro helps organisations save money on critical business operations including, shipping, printing and returned mail costs. The quarterly Postcode Address File updates also ensure the database is kept clean and accurate. While QuickAddress Batch cleans, completes and verifies existing records in an address database or list. Over time, frequent address cleansing helps prevent data decay by keeping the address database correct, accurate and up to date.</p>
