Melbourne-based distributor, Wavelink Communications, has appointed Daniel Bottros to the newly created role of A/NZ IP channel manager.
Bottros previously spent 18 months as Anixter's national internal account manager for IBM. He said Wavelink wanted to move into the IP space. His first point of focus was to appoint more channel partners with VoIP and WLAN capability.
"We want to include Cisco, Mitel, Aruba and Symbol specialist partners," Bottros said. "We want partner numbers to grow progressively, but we don't want to over-distribute the products. Our initial target is to have coverage in the capital cities and to expand further over the next 12-24 months."
Partners would be offered sales and technical support, marketing and level two support for their customers, he said.
Wavelink currently distributes Kirk IP DECT systems, SpectraLink Wi-Fi systems and ConnexAll integrated messaging software. Bottros said he was keen on expanding voice over Wi-Fi technology into new market areas such as security, gaming and hospitality.
"These are becoming big target areas. Our current strategy lies in retail, health care and manufacturing markets," he said. "They continue to be strong markets for us because there are lots of people in those areas using wireless technology."
