Firewall vendor, Secure Computing, has put its three local enterprise distributors on notice to grow its gold reseller partners or risk being cut.
Country manager, Eric Krieger, said Blue Sky Industries, itX and new appointment, WhiteGold, had 12 months to show their worth before one was removed from its books.
"The local pie is currently big enough to support two, but not three," he said. "They all have market niches, so now it's up to them."
Secure Computing currently has less than 10 gold partners. Krieger said if the figure doubled within 18 months, it could ensure the survival of all three distributors.
"I don't want more than about 14 because I don't want to create huge competition in the marketplace," he said. "Our gold partners make a very good margin."
Secure gold partners typically turnover a minimum $1 million per year.
Newest distribution recruit, WhiteGold, was bullish about its prospects. Managing director, Dominic Whitehand, was looking forward to working with the vendor.
"Secure Computing has such a wide range of products, especially after it bought Cyberguard," he said.
