Brisbane's XPress IT has signed up as the latest distributor for security hardware vendor, Swann Communications. The appointment is part of a push to swell its supplier ranks to reduce the divide between retail and distribution sales.
"The CCTV security market is something we've seen growing exponentially and reseller enquiries have been huge," XPress IT business manager, Craig Worland, said. "The way Swann bundles the products as kits makes them easy to sell."
Worland said XPress IT was currently finalising details with Swann before announcing an official launch to its resellers. Swann product details are already being added to its website.
"Swann has been concentrating on the retail environment and experienced really strong growth in the last 12 months," sales manager, Rick Phelps, said. "We haven't had a real focus on distribution but we're now putting in place a program to start driving that."
The Australian-owned company is also distributed by HiTech (SA and Victoria), Infront Technology (NSW) and RTV (WA). Phelps said he would most likely appoint three additional niche players in NSW, Victoria and WA.
Swann's most recent release is the $199 Digital Private Eye. Marketed as a DIY security device, the unit is a hidden camera that records images onto an SD Memory Card upon detecting motion.
