Melbourne-based distributor, Westan, has signed an exclusive distribution deal for the whole range of Whatmough audio products. The local manufacturer's range includes its Synergy 2, Opus, Performance and Signature series of speakers.
The distributor's AV product manager, James Chen, said Westan wanted to place a stronger emphasis on the audio-visual market. It also distributes Usher Audio products including speakers and a range of high-end electronics.
"We are finding a lot of interest in AV products and we want to offer more products to our partners," he said.
The distributor would look to boost its AV portfolio through adding complementary products such as cables and racks. Chen is considering bundles the Whatmough speakers with amplifiers and DVD players. They will primarily be targeted at the home theatre space.
In November, Westan will launch sales and technical training programs based on the new range and other products.
"The programs will offer us face-to-face contact with partners, which is important because we get the right feedback, meet objections and answer their queries," Chen said.
Whatmough director, Kee Whatmough, said Westan would help the brand build a national presence. The vendor previously sold direct. "It's hard for us to get our sales team to go around Australia for one product. Westan can do it much easier," she said.
