Sun Microsystems plans to buy identity management services vendor, Neogent.
It sells automated software tools designed to speed up the implementation of identity management systems based on Sun's Java System Identity Manager software.
Sun acquired Waveset, a vendor of network user identity and password management, in late 2003 and has been seeking to establish itself as a major player in the world of identity management.
The Neogent acquisition is expected to be completed by year's end, at which point Neogent will be rolled into Sun's services division, according to a spokesperson with Sun's public relations agency.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
