NetComm Launches New Generation Multi-Function Printer Server

 • 03 October, 2006 10:40

NetComm, a leading provider of broadband, Internet and communications products and services, has announced the availability of a new generation multi-function printer (MFP) server – the NP3680. This server enables users to network their multi-function printers and use multiple functions such as printer, scanner, and photocopier.

“Many conventional print servers have the limitation that they only support printing when a multi-function printer is networked through the printer server. The NetComm NP3680 Multi-Function server is the only product in the market that can recognise all the functions of a networked multi-function printer,” said David Stewart, Managing Director of NetComm. “As the business requirements become more and more demanding, small to medium businesses and particularly home office users will benefit from this multi-function printer server because it will maximise their productivity.”

The NP3680 is designed to support an extensive range of regular USB and Multi-Function Printers from the leading manufacturers. With its two USB 2.0 host ports, the NP3680 can also connect and network stand-alone scanners and USB storage devices including hard disk drivers and card readers via Ethernet.

What makes this product unique is that it is the only printer server that monitors and reports ink levels (in an inkjet MFP) to all users on the network. This way, when multiple users access the printer, it minimises the inconvenience of ink running out. The administrative or IT staff can easily manage the printers remotely with ink level reporting.

Key features of the NP3680 include:

• SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy) server support to network a scanner
• Supports SMB (Server Message Block)/CIFS (Common Internet File System) and FTP (File Transfer Protocol) in order to network to external hard disks and servers and incorporates user level security
• Multi-language printer support
• An “INIT” (initialise) button that can do the following:
o Print a configuration page
o Reset to factory default or
o Upgrade the operating firmware

The NP3680 Multi-Function Printer Servers is available now through NetComm product stockists nationally for AUD$199.00 (inc. GST). Product inquiries can be made to 02 9424 2070 or
