Alloys embarks on MediaHub training

Alloys International will host an Australian-first training seminar next month aimed at educating resellers on the finer points of selling, installing and supporting digital smart homes.

The two-day course will cover the four tenets of the smart home: entertainment, communication, automation and security. It will be based around the distributor's MediaHub Digital Smart Home solution.

Resellers will learn how each component fits into the smart home, installation processes and compatibility with Intel ViiV and Microsoft MediaCentre platforms. Live demonstrations will be conducted at the fully automated MediaHub display showroom.

"The digital smart home market is potentially huge," MediaHub product development manager, Phil Gibbs, said. "In time, we'll see Microsoft and Intel replacing all whiteboxes with media platforms. So in five years, if you're selling PCs, you're going to be out of a job."

While resellers of any description were welcome to attend, Gibbs said integrators and VARs would get the most out of the two-day session.

"We are doing for the home media centre what Henry Ford did for the automobile industry; we're bringing it into affordable price points for the mainstream," he said. "There's opportunity for the channel in support, service integration and installation and above all value-added service."

The course will be held on October 10- 11 at Alloys International's head office in Melbourne.
