NETGEAR launches digital media connector as content options improve

<p>NETGEAR is the first vendor to offer complete Intel® Viiv™ certified network for the digital home in Australia</p>
<p>Sydney, Australia (September 11, 2006) – NETGEAR (Nasdaq: NTGR) today launched an Intel® Viiv™-certified media adapter that enables users to wirelessly stream high-definition music, video and photo content directly from a Viiv-technology based entertainment PCs to a television connected in another room.</p>
<p>Viiv is Intel’s new branded platform for the digital home, designed to enhance how people enjoy, manage and share digital entertainment.</p>
<p>The EVA700 Digital Entertainer links the PC and home entertainment system with consumer technologies and features an easily accessible USB port at the front of the unit.</p>
<p>“NETGEAR is the first vendor in Australia to receive Intel Viiv certification for a media adapter and compatible routers to setup a digitally connected home,” said NETGEAR Asia Pacific Vice President Ian McLean.</p>
<p>“The EVA700 delivers a streamlined connected home experience and simplifies the sharing of media content through its ease-of-use and setup,” he continued.</p>
<p>When combined with the optional XE104 Wall-Plugged Ethernet 4-Port Switch, EVA700 will stream high-quality audio-visual content at a guaranteed bandwidth of 85Mbps across multiple rooms, enabling consumers to use the Digital Entertainer from anywhere in the home, regardless of where their PC is located.</p>
<p>The EVA700 comes with an infrared remote control which displays an easy on-screen selection menu to allow users to access and control digital content. The Digital Entertainer is packaged with all cables required to set up a digital home network and an installation guide and resource CD for ease-of-use.</p>
<p>Kate Burleigh, Intels’ National Marketing Manager for Australia and New Zealand said, “With the introduction of NETGEAR’s EVA700, consumers can now download their favourite movies and music directly to their Intel Viiv-based PC, as well as stream them to multiple rooms around their homes. And when an Intel Viiv-based PC is powered by the new Intel® CoreTM2 Duo processor, this digital experience will be further enhanced as this new advanced processor provides performance gains of up to 40 per cent when compared with previous generation Intel desktop processors.
