CommVault has appointed its first local channel manager as part of plans to refresh its channel strategy.
Joe McPhillips joins the storage vendor from Scottish security software vendor, iomart Group. CommVault regional director, Gerry Sillars, said the appointment of a channel manager was long overdue.
"[The appointment's] been a long time coming because our business is 100 per cent indirect and we have a channel program that needs to be refreshed," he said. "Up until now, channel management has been an ad hoc role done by a combination of guys."
In addition to refreshing the channel program, Sillars said McPhillips would also be overseeing a CommVault certification program that kicked off earlier this month.
"There are two types of certification - design specialist and product specialist. The first is primarily for a pre-sales role while the other is for staff that support installed solutions," he said.
In addition to his role at iomart Group, McPhillips has more than 10 years of channel experience in the UK and US including positions at Fujitsu, IBM and British Telecom.
