Solution 6 founder, Terry Ashman, has joined S Central's advisory board to help drive expansion plans.
Managing director, Peter Mavridis, said the appointment provided the Melbourne-based integrator with a stronger background in technology. While other board members had in-depth knowledge of private and public companies, utilities, banking and insurance, there was a lack of IT nous.
Ashman established accounting software and services firm, Solution 6, in 1981, and oversaw its public float in 1987. He was also involved in the development of ISP, Access One, in 1995.
Since 1999, he has founded market investment firm, Globaltech Technologies and Investment Holdings, as well as establishing and expanding Globaltech Wharf3 Projects in conjunction with Patrick Corporation.
He is the sixth person to join the S Central board, following the appointment of former IBM and Huon staffer, Robert Gee, six months ago.
For the past 12 months, S Central has also been attempting to build its presence in NSW. In May, it started planning a Sydney branch after several potential acquisitions fell through.
Mavridis said it was now working on other opportunities and hoped to announce a deal shortly.
