Adelaide-based PC builder and distributor, Leader Systems, is the latest distributor added to Epson's supplier list. It will carry inkjet, laser and multifunction printers, scanners and consumables. Managing director, Paul Kristoris, said he would bundle the range with his Leader desktops and notebooks.
"We are very excited about adding Epson to our portfolio. It will help us provide a better range of products,"he said. "The big appeal to Epson is that we are pretty strong in regional areas and the Northern Territory."
Leader joins Ingram Micro, Dicker Data, BMS Technology, HiTech Distribution, Compu Wholesale, Cellnet, Alloys International, Synnex, XiT and Phoenix Toner in the distributor stable. It is the third Epson distributor in South Australia.
Epson marketing director, Mike Pleasants, said Leader would bolster the vendor's position in South Australia and Northern Territory.
"Leader has a good reputation in SA and NT. These are two areas where we really want to broaden our reach," he said.
Leader is currently running three promotions for resellers. They include a Coles/Myer voucher with the sale of an Epson photo inkjet and multifunction printer, the chance to go in the draw to win an Epson S4 projector with every purchase of an Epson product and a free 512MB USB drive depending on the purchase volumes.
HiTech managing director, Ian Vagg, was not surprised by the appointment of Leader even though it sells to the same customer base, because it could bundle the printers with its own range of PCs.
"None of the distributors in SA are in a position to do that and it was certainly an area of the market Epson was looking into," he said. "There are a number of other distributors and it will be interesting to see if this starts a price war. It won't be starting with us."
