Draped in the car manufacturer's red and black colours and wearing the famous prancing horse logo, the Acer Ferrari F-20 monitor is full of prestige and audacity. It is a status symbol that provides excellent image quality and plenty of versatility.
The panel is of the highest grade and passed most of our tests easily. From the start we just loved the fact that we didn't have to adjust the screen's settings to get a perfect picture. Just as well, too, as the controls for the on-screen display reside behind the right side of the frame, which is a tad inconvenient.
Testing with DisplayMate showed excellent contrast and brightness. Light grey colours on a white background and dark grey colours on a black background were all perfectly visible.
Screen uniformity throughout testing was also excellent and its viewable angles, vertical and horizontal, are among the best we've seen. However, we did find its colour reproduction to be too rich, which made our test photos look too vibrant. The Ferrari showed very slight blurring around the edges of black scrolling text on a white background. We didn't notice any blurring while playing games or viewing video.
The screen's 1680 x 1050 resolution makes it capable of displaying high-definition content encoded at 720p and, conveniently, it has Component and S-Video inputs in addition to DVI and VGA.
Verdict: It's more expensive than regular 20-inch monitors, but its performance and prestige are undeniable.
