Techplus Distribution has appointed former IBM EcoSystems manager, Bretten Zagrzejewski, to head up its channel development strategy.
With a background in channel over the past two decades, including stints at IBM, StorageTek and Compaq, Zagrzejewski said he was in his element.
"My forte is creating relationships with the channel. In my other roles, it just got further and further away from me, so it's good to be back," he said.
Zagrzejewski said he was particularly looking forward to helping build a solid enterprise channel of Techplus resellers dealing with banks and other large corporations.
He will also be charged with recruiting new partners with expertise in areas such as network security and application performance management.
Zagrzejewski said training would be key to driving new sales.
"Enterprise is new thing for the business insofar as our partners would previously buy something just because a customer asked for it," he said. "We get orders through the fax machine all the time, but what we will start to do more of is train and certify people at these partners so they are more skilled in what they do."
Techplus managing director, Paul Kern, said the newly created role would help the distributor forge stronger ties with existing channel partners while building new partner relationships.
