Sun Microsystems director of partner sales, Michael May, has parted company with the vendor.
He was the victim of a global cost-cutting exercise.
News of May's departure was relayed to partners at its recent sales kick-off, according to his replacement, Sam Srinivasan.
Former channels and commercial sales manager for data management, Srinivasan, joined Sun as part of its recent StrorageTek acquisition.
National sales manager for service providers, David Hussey, has also left the business along witha a couple of channel account managers.
The streamlining of middle management has partly been attributed to the integration of the two companies.
Looking forward, May said he would like to stay in the IT channel, pointing to recent channel initiatives within Sun as examples of the kind of work he was interested in pursuing.
"If there was an opportunity to do that in another organisation, I'd welcome it," he said.
