Harvey Norman launches online music store

Harvey Norman has launched a new music download service in partnership with digital music provider Destra.

Customers can buy retail-branded music vouchers from Harvey Norman outlets, which can then be used to purchase songs and albums from their Web site:

The music vouchers come in $5, $10, $20 and $50 denominations.

Daily updated songs will be supplied in MP3 and WMA formats and are priced at $1.69 per track or from $16.99 per album. Songs sold at Apple's iTunes online shop are priced the same.

According to a statement from Harvey Norman, online Channel Go stores will also offer specific downloads for Intel ViiV and Windows Media Center.

"Harvey Norman is the first Australian retailer to provide not only an online music store but also an Intel ViiV store and Windows Media Center store," Harvey Norman product and marketing manager, Rebecca McLaughlin said. "Channel Go provides the glue to our digital offering."
