Dimension Data’s Compliance Case Management System wins top award at Microsoft’s Australia and New Zealand Partner Conference

At Microsoft’s annual Australia and New Zealand Partner Conference, held from 2 to 4 August 2006 on Queensland’s Hamilton Island, Dimension Data won both Business Productivity Solution of the Year and also Partner Solution of the Year for its Compliance Case Management (CCM) System. Microsoft’s Partner Solution of the Year was selected as the best submission from all the category award winners for 2006.

These awards follow on from the success of Dimension Data’s Australian business at Microsoft's 2006 Worldwide Partner Conference in Boston in June this year, where the company won three global Microsoft(R) Partner Awards earlier this month, including Custom Development Solutions Specialisation Award for its CCM System.

CCM, which was formerly known as the Compliance Management System, was developed as a new suite of applications, while building a Fisheries Management System (FMS) for the Queensland Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries (“DPI&F”). A prototype, the CCM was developed as a means to support the licence management function of DPI&F. While it was originally developed for the specific needs of one Government agency, CCM is adaptable to future legislative and regulatory change. By separating the business logic and operational processes from the underlying code, CCM is a very flexible, extensible, scalable and configurable compliance engine that is readily adaptable for use by other Government agencies or commercial entities. One of the powerful features is that these services are all delivered through the productivity tools (the browser and Microsoft Office) with which users are already highly familiar and comfortable in using. The CCM prototype leverages a series of rich functionality from the Microsoft platform in the following areas - business process orchestration, business integration, forms based workflow and business intelligence delivered through the collaborative SharePoint Portal platform.

Dimension Data's CCM can integrate in-bound data received – from sources including DPI&F’s Licensing Management System and global position system (GPS) data feeds – with the legislative framework for licensing compliance. The system also extends through to case investigation and management, following the procedures step-by-step as established by the legislation. This includes Ministerial reporting, and judicial reporting and evidentiary requirements for licensing infringement prosecutions. CCM also includes complementary audit and reporting tools that provide the business stakeholders with a vastly improved and powerful tool set for measuring and optimising operational performance in line with strategic objectives. This helps to ensure that there is ongoing alignment of actual operational results with organisational strategy and associated policy direction.

"We have been talking to a broad range of organisations about the CCM prototype, across a range of vertical sectors and with a variety of diverse business process-related business challenges. The feedback and interest has been very positive and appears to be gathering momentum,” said Ben Johnston, practice manager, application integration, Dimension Data.

Emerging from integration work for DPI&F, the CCM prototype was developed as part of Dimension Data’s involvement in Microsoft’s Spotlight on Business Process Integration (SoBPI), culminating in a Brisbane-based event held in March 2006.

“We received great support from Microsoft’s Queensland team, and the CCM solution received terrific momentum from the SoBPI event, where it was showcased to over 200 delegates,” continued Johnston.

In addition to the awards received for CCM, Dimension Data was a finalist in three categories: Infrastructure Solution of the Year, LAR Partner of the Year and Learning Solutions Partner of the Year.
