Sydney-based distributor, Firewall Systems, has added Fortinet's antivirus firewalls to its products portfolio.
Firewall marketing director, Nick Verykios, said it would differentiate from existing distributors, Lan 1 and WhiteGold, by pushing the security appliances into the top end of town. Large enterprises and government customers would be targeted through a mixture of systems integrators, telcos and service providers.
"We've signed Orange and Alcatel already," Fortinet country manager, Colin Lim, said. "By the end of December we'll have consolidated five or six partners of that calibre."
Verykios said this was a good number because he didn't want to see the business highly contested.
"Fortinet is a complex sale," he said. "We don't want to have two or three competing for the same deal. It makes no economic sense." Firewall has set an annual revenue target of $4 million with its new vendor.
In addition to announcing the vendor deal, Verykios said Firewall opened a NZ office this week. Trevor Holland has been installed as country manager, coming from a background that includes roles with Nokia and CA.
