Symantec has launched new training information for partners as part of ongoing enhancements to its channel program.
The 18 online training modules combine the security vendor's content with that of storage outfit, Veritas, which was acquired last July.
Director of Pacific channel sales, David Blackman, said these unified the training programs and would offer partners a more consistent experience.
"All the modules are online and each has a presentation with notes on every slide," he said. "Partners then complete an online exam and those registering scores above 75 per cent receive sales expert accreditation."
Blackman said it was unlikely most partners would complete all 18 modules. Instead, he predicted they would concentrate on a handful of areas most relevant to their line of business.
Symantec currently offers rebates to platinum and gold partners. Successful completion of training modules can be used as objectives in agreements with individual partners.
It has also added a new Partner Locator to its website, which will make the details of silver, gold and platinum partners available through a search function.
The latest partner program changes represent the second phase of Symantec's plans to update it channel partnerships.
Blackman said a third phase of program enhancements was scheduled but he was unable to confirm whether it would be made available by end of year.
