Axxis shifts to branded business

Dubbo-based reseller, Axxis Technology, has committed to a host of vendor partnerships in an effort to move away from assembling systems.

General manager, Michael Duggan, said it recently joined the ranks of Cisco, Linksys, Toshiba, IBM and Lenovo.

The company was now a Cisco SMB partner and had also fostered a deal with Sydney-based Cisco voice partner, Allcom Networks, to access VoIP services and support.

Similarly, Axxis has gained authorised partner status with Toshiba. Although it could access to all notebooks, Duggan said the reseller would focus on the Satellite Pro series.

"It's typically larger resellers that get this status, so it's quite a coup to convince them they should work with us," he said.

For servers and desktops, Axxis has attained business partner status with IBM and Lenovo. "This is a major shift to a tier-one provider. The support services we get are fairly significant," Duggan said. "We looked at HP as well but its model appeared more direct.

"The larger IT manufacturers have trained people to expect computers to carry little or no profit. When you have to compete with them it gets hard. It's better to join forces and succeed with them."
