Managed services provider, Hostworks, has won a $500,000 contract to help Chandler Macleod deliver online services for the next three years.
Sales and marketing director, Klaus Bartosch, said it had been asked to pitch against the recruitment firm's incumbent but refused to reveal them.
"Chandler Macleod selected us because we are looking at the online channel as a critical part of business strategy," he said. "We can manage a serious online presence and represented the most credible solution."
While happy to have won the deal, Bartosch said Hostworks typically won bigger contracts in the $2-3 million range. A $6.1 million win was finalised with Ticketek in August 2005.
According to Bartosch, the small scale of the Chandler Macleod deal belied its importance because it would help Hostworks the managed service provider market.
"Some people in the market are just starting to understand we are biting chunks out of the calf muscles of major outsourcers like EDS, IBM, CSC, Fujitsu and Kaz," he said. "We're taking high margin business from them and establishing a footprint in a market that's traditionally been theirs."
