Cisco this week unveiled products for cable operators selling services to small and midsize businesses and enterprises with branch operations.
The Cisco Integrated Business Service offering consists of a Cisco 815 Cable Integrated Services Router (ISR) and WAN interface cards for the company's 3800, 2800, 1800 and 800 series of ISRs. They integrate a cable modem with a router for deployment of business services, obviating the need to install both devices separately.
The Cisco 815 Cable ISR and WAN interface card are designed to comply with the CableLabs DOCSIS 2.0 specifications for data transmission over a cable infrastructure.
The 815 Cable ISR is a fixed-configuration router with a single connector for DOCSIS connectivity, and four 10/100Mbps Ethernet ports. Security features on the router include hardware-based VPN acceleration, firewall and intrusion prevention.
The WAN interface card provides hybrid fiber-coaxial connectivity for Cisco's ISRs.
The Cisco Integrated Business Services offering will be available in August and will vary in pricing based on configurations customized to meet specific needs of cable operators' networks.
