Internet Security Systems Australasia (ISS) has appointed Shelly Houghton as northern region manager to support customers in Queensland, Northern Territory and the Pacific Islands.
She most recently held a channel management role with CheckPoint and replaces Hillary Noye, who has been promoted to director of managed security services.
The personnel move coincides with an SMB push. ISS has traditionally played in the enterprise and government markets.
"We are currently looking at existing reseller base to see which partners might also be able to service the SMB channel," Houghton said.
ISS would recruit new resellers to fill gaps in its SMB strategy. The recruitment phase would take place within the next three months.
"There are some things we want to put in place before we go actively recruiting, such as the tools to support the program," Houghton said. "We are just about to launch our partner resource centre, which has online self-education tools for partners."
Ideal SMB partners would have strong networking and security skills, she said.
