Synnex boosts memory range

Synnex has signed a distribution deal with Taiwanese peripherals and multimedia vendor, Transcend, for its range of CE and memory hardware products.

The list includes multimedia digital albums, MP3 players, portable USB and HDD storage devices, flash cards, memory modules and accessories. All will be rolled out to Synnex resellers during the next month.

Synnex managing director, Kee Ong, said the deal tied in with the distributor's efforts to add complementary, price-competitive goods.

Product manager, Yuchen Liao, said the local agreement was an extension of a partnership struck between Synnex and Transcend in Taiwan. The vendor already maintained distribution relationships with Cellnet and West Group in Australia.

Liao said it would bundle several of the products with existing hardware. For example, memory modules would be available with its motherboard range, while flash memory would be packaged with notebooks.

Transcend's proprietary memory, which was compatible with a vast array of high-end systems such as those from IBM and Cisco, would also suit resellers working in the corporate space, he said.

In a statement, Transcend channel marketing manger, Norman Hsu, said it had chosen Synnex because of its broad reseller base.
