<p>Appointment of Company Veteran Accelerates Growth Plans of Storage Virtualisation Leader in the Region</p>
<p>SYDNEY- 29 May 2006, – Hitachi Data Systems, the leading provider of Application Optimised StorageTM solutions and a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE : HIT) today announced the appointment of Mr. Michael Cremen as senior vice president and general manager for Asia Pacific operations.</p>
<p>A company veteran who has worked with Hitachi Data Systems for more than 14 years, Mr. Cremen’s focus will be to provide sales direction and leadership to the region. He will work closely with his country leaders to leverage Hitachi’s broad range of solutions to accelerate growth of the company’s revenue and market share in the region.</p>
<p>Mr. Cremen started his career at Hitachi Data Systems in sales, managing major financial services accounts in New York. These accounts included Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and Lehman Brothers. As a district manager, he increased revenue for the region 17-fold, with specific focus on the financial services, insurance, pharmaceutical and telecommunications industries.</p>
<p>He then relocated to Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) to serve as country manager, where within two years; he more than doubled the company’s business in the ANZ region. Most recently, Mr. Cremen managed the Hitachi Data Systems’ western region sales organisation for the Americas and led that district to achieve the highest level of growth in the company’s history.</p>
<p>Mr. Cremen will report to Mr. Scott Genereux, executive vice president and general manager, Worldwide Sales, Marketing and Support.</p>
