Services Briefs: Kaz, Google

Kaz makes WA a focal point

Broadening its reach in WA, Kaz Group has scooped up technology services company, Focal Systems, best known in the industry as an ERP specialist. Under the terms of the deal, Kaz acquires all of Focal’s business and technology management solutions and support services. The company was attracted to Focal’s expertise with IBM iSeries and Microsoft Business Solutions, Kaz Group’s general manager, group marketing and communications, Kevin Ryder, said. Kaz would provide its core strength, managed services, to Focal’s ERP and iSeries clients, for example, he said. Founder and managing director of Focal, Michael Cook, said joining forces with Kaz increased Focal’s resource pool. “Additionally, the combined entity retains the flexibility to offer a localised service, drawing on national best-practice standards to West Australian companies,” Cook said.

New version of Google blogger

Google has rolled out an updated version of its Blogger online self-publishing service. The new version features an enhanced dashboard, the ability to post blogs via email, a shared comments function, and author profiles. The new Mail-to-Blogger function lets users publish blogs from any email-enabled device, including mobile phones and PDAs, according to Google officials. Other new features include 26 new templates, a comments capability with various levels of privacy and permission control, and a profile feature that lets users post a page about themselves with links to other blogs and blogging stats. Google also added Post Pages, which gives each blog post and any associated comments its own Web page.
