Computer Associates has appointed Gavin Selkirk as the managing director for the Pacific region following the promotion of John Ruthven to senior VP for the Asia Pacific and Japan.
Selkirk, previously vice president of sales, will be responsible for all CA's business operations in Australia and New Zealand as well as 600 employees across the two countries.
Ruthven said he had great confidence in handing the ANZ reins over to Selkirk, given the fact that in a short time he had led CA to strong 2004 quarterly results.
"He has demonstrated strong leadership, a keen appreciation of customer satisfaction, a clear focus on sales performance and a balanced approach to business management," Ruthven said.
Selkirk joined CA in October 2003 as vice president of sales and has more than 10 years' experience in the IT and telecommunications industries.
Before joining CA, Selkirk worked as sales director of SAS Australia and also held a senior sales position with Vodafone.
Selkirk said he is looking to drive strong growth within Computer Associates over the next two financial years.
"CA's Pacific operations have been performing very strongly and I intend to continue and build on that solid performance," Selkirk said.
