AppleCentre goes into receivership

Tasmanian-based AppleCentre, Wise IT, has gone into receivership after being unable to pay creditors.

McGrath Nicol was appointed as administrators on May 12. The firm's senior manager, Barry Kogan, said it had put the company up for sale.

"It's early days in terms of our appointment, but we're concentrating all of our energies on selling the businesses of the company," he said. "We're trying to get the best return we can and maximising the assets."

There is no fixed cut-off date for the sale. Kogan confirmed Wise IT had one secured creditor, but would not disclose the total amount of its debts.

Wise IT maintains stores in Hobart and Burwood, Sydney. Both are still trading. The company employs about 20 full-time and casual staff.

CEO of the reseller, Alan Lawson, refused to comment.
