Telco service provider, Telarus, has hired Larry Cafiero in the new role of channel account executive.
Reporting to channel program manager, Peter Jordan, Cafiero has been tasked with supporting the Telarus partner community, estimated to be about 50 per cent of the provider's sales.
Cafiero said part of his role would also include prospecting for new partners. These would most likely be pulled from the ranks of SIs or consultants.
"This will be an organic growth model and is based on getting core individuals, rather than trying to open the floodgates to everyone under the sun," he said. "We want to get some quality, polished partners."
Telarus partners could offer a mix of mobile, fixed-line voice, data services and hosting.
Cafiero estimated recruiting up to 20 partners over the next 12 months, adding to the existing list of 40 partners drawn from SIs, software VARs, telecommunication carriers and telephony suppliers.
He comes to Telarus with six years experience in the US at Primus Telecommunications, MCI WorldCom and SBC.
