LG has replaced departed channel manager Mohammad Kandeel with his direct report, former national IT channel executive, Charlie Harb.
Kandeel has taken up a new role as manager of commercial solutions at accessories vendor, Targus.
The appointment tops an accelerated progression within LG ranks for Harb, who began with the company as NSW channel executive in March 2005. From there, he was promoted to the national role in August, working closely with Kandeel.
Over the past year, LG has parted company with five distributors for varying reasons. These include Altech, Espco, Galas, Express Online and, most recently, Omega. The vendor still has eight distributors on its books.
Harb plans to launch a greater array of products into the IT channel.
"We're starting to play a lot in digital storage, DVD media and MP3," Harb said. For Kandeel, the time was right to leave the electronics vendor.
"I did three years at LG and we experienced some massive growth during that time, but I was looking for more personal career growth," he said. "It's a different product set [at Targus]. I have more responsibility and that equals more career potential."
