Compuware Vantage Enables Organisations to
Maximize the Value and Performance of Citrix Implementations

Sydney June 29, 2004: Compuware Asia-Pacific today announced that the newest version of Compuware Vantage, the company’s comprehensive solution for application service management, extends its support for Citrix access infrastructure software. Building on its existing strengths in managing the Citrix® MetaFrame® Access Suite from an end-user perspective, Compuware Vantage offers new capabilities that provide visibility into the interaction of Citrix application workloads with the underlying network and server infrastructure. These combined capabilities allow IT organisations to optimise their Citrix environments to deliver excellent service to the business.

“Many of Australia’s largest companies use Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server as the distribution platform for their most critical business applications. These companies invest in Citrix technology to increase application performance while saving network bandwidth and reducing client administrative costs. Compuware Vantage provides a complete picture of the Citrix environment including; identification and rapid resolution of tough performance problems. This gives IT managers the important insight needed to improve application service and maximise value from application and infrastructure investments,” said David Macalpine, Vantage Product Manager, Compuware Asia-Pacific.

In addition to providing granular insight into the Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server workload, including Citrix network traffic by application and by class of service, Compuware Vantage provides prediction capabilities for the Citrix WAN workload. This type of visibility helps IT professionals balance workloads effectively, eliminate the interference of non-critical traffic while delivering service to the business and make better decisions about infrastructure sizing.

“Compuware Vantage offers a comprehensive application performance management solution for Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server environments,” said Barry Davis, Vice President, Corporate Development, Citrix Systems, Inc. “The Compuware solution goes beyond technology by providing best practices to help our customers deliver superior application access. Compuware has displayed commitment to our product suite, and to delivering added value to our mutual customers.”

To help ensure organisations effectively deploy service management in the Citrix environment, Compuware has developed best practices for use with the Compuware Vantage solution. These best practices help customers achieve the following:

*Establish a global view of application service across an entire Citrix environment
*Baseline and manage performance and availability of critical Citrix applications
*Configure the network, Citrix servers and database servers to maximize overall throughput and performance.

“We use Citrix as the strategic delivery platform for our patient care application from Cerner,” said Joe Shapiro, Project Leader, Information Systems, Aurora Health Care. “The response time and availability of this application across our health care network is critical to our business. Compuware Vantage provides us with the visibility we need to optimise our Citrix configuration and proactively deliver consistently high service levels.”
