StorageCraft recruiting staff, resellers

Data recovery company, StorageCraft, has quickly found its feet in Australia - setting up a Sydney head office, appointing staff, recruiting resellers and launching products at introductory prices.

Greg Wyman will head a team of staff expected to be announced in June this year.

"We are in final negotiations with several people," he said.

The initial positions to be filled will be a channel manager and operations person as well as technical support, but Wyman declined to specify numbers.

"Their roles will focus on ensuring customers, both end users and resellers, receive the highest level of support," he said.

The company is also in the process of launching the first local reseller recruitment campaign to support end-user demand creation programs, which are scheduled to roll out from mid-May.

"We are ideally looking to reach at least 50-75 channel partners by the end of June," Wyman said.

"In New Zealand, we have sold more than 100 reseller licenses in the first 45 days, which highlights the pent up demand that resellers had for this solution."

Wyman said he would pass 100 per cent of his business back through channel partners.

"I am strongly opposed to the model that many vendors adopt of taking top customers direct and leaving the channel to fight over the remainder," he said. "I believe the vendor should be responsible and drive end user awareness and support channel partners in selling our solutions."

The company does, however, sell its products directly through the website, but Wyman does not think this takes away much local business from the channel.

"Based on last 11 years in Australia, I think most customers prefer to invest in technology through local partners, believing the partners understand their specific requirements," he said.

"I believe that for us to grow rapidly, we will need strong and loyal channel partners to help us exceed customer expectations."

The products the vendor is bringing to market are the ShadowProtect IT Edition, ShadowProtect Desktop Edition and ShadowProtect Server Edition

Both desktop and server ShadowProtect are disc-based point-in-time backup disaster recovery solutions that work on Windows servers, PCs and laptops.

The IT Edition is a technician license that does not require installation on the target system, and is able to create an ExactState image for disaster recovery and change management purposes.
