McDATA announces inaugural Data Management Conference in response to the growing popularity of remote-office working environments

SYDNEY, Australia – May 1st, 2006 – McDATA Corporation, a leading provider of storage networking solutions, today announced their inaugural Data Management Conference to be held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney on Thursday 11 May 2006.

Today, businesses often struggle to comply with regulatory audits and protect their data across enterprise-wide landscapes, because of improper backups or the inability to retrieve data fast enough – especially at remote offices.

Statistics show that up to 75 per cent of enterprise data reside in remote offices, effective management of remote data is critical. Unlike corporate offices with their modern data centres and ironclad data management standards, remote offices often lack adequate resources for proper data protection. Currently, businesses’ efforts to consolidate all corporate data into a single central facility have met with little success because of low WAN speeds, which prevents the rapid flow of information across vast distances.

With this event, McDATA aims to help IT decision makers and executives learn how to effectively improve their storage environment and data management across remote sites. At the conference, executives will learn about the latest in storage trends and remote office consolidation solution offerings.

John Kelley, Chairman, President and CEO of McDATA Corporation will be anchoring the event and sharing his insight through a keynote address on networking the world of business data. Additionally, there will be an insightful dialogue session with John Kelley on the benefits using storage networking.
