MessageLabs has strengthened support for its channel partners with the appointment of two Sydney-based volume sales specialists.
John Tran and Sean Doyle will each be aligned to three or four channel partners to offer sales skills and product expertise, Asia-Pacific director of partners, Andy Lake, said.
"A lot of partners in the security space have multiple offerings and aren't security or MessageLabs experts," Lake said. "They [Tran and Doyle] will work with our partners to support deals. They can work in front, beside or behind the channel sales people."
While all MessageLabs channel partners had access to sales support, Lake said the vendor was earmarking selected accounts for special assistance. He said the selection process would not necessarily be based on partner size, sales volumes or a past relationship with the vendor.
"The partners will be selected by opportunities, not always because of a historical relationship," Lake said. "We look at the strategy of that partner and how important MessageLabs is in its business.
"Sometimes it could be simply because the partner is new to managed security and might need help with early sales."
