Anthology Solutions give free ride on the Yellow Machine

After just releasing its Yellow Machine storage device to the Australian market this year, Anthology Solutions has issued a firmware upgrade which will be supplied free of charge to existing users.

"Every customer in Australia who has bought a Yellow Machine will receive an upgrade to version 3.0 for free," A/NZ Anthology Solutions country manager, John Robinson, said.

Version 3.0 upgrades the core Yellow Machine device to include active directory services for Microsoft Server interoperability, VPN termination for remote access, Masterpiece disk scrubbing technology for hard drive data reliability and EMC Retrospect v7.5 backup software.

Robinson said the upgrade would broaden the device's functionality and was confident resellers and distributors would take notice at this year's Australian CeBIT show. The event runs from May 9-11 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.

"The idea of CeBIT is to gain as much exposure as we possibly can," he said. "It's perfect for resellers because unlike the PC market where the margins are very thin, storage margins are very healthy and you could make five or six or ten times more."

Although Robinson was eager to pick up as many resellers as possible, he was more selective in his choice of distributors.

"If a distributor came along and said they had an opportunity for a full blown distribution activity without stepping on the toes of my other distributors, I would be very interested," he said.

Anthology Solutions wanted to penetrate the national market and would be looking at distributors on the west coast and in New Zealand, Robinson said.

"It's still early days but there's a long way to go and we are looking forward to using CeBIT to leverage us into the market," he said.

Anthology Solution's products are distributed through Tecksel and Cradle Technologies.

Cradle CEO, Dez Blanchfield, said the new features help address key pain points in small to medium sized business secure storage appliance needs.

"The new software release now makes the Yellow Machine very reliable and easy to use, while adding advanced features for business and government users," he said.

The upgrade has not affected pricing for the Yellow Machine which remains at $2090 RRP excluding GST.
