Former Trend Micro A/NZ boss, Chris Poulos, has been appointed local managing director for US software vendor, Akimbi Systems. One of his top priorities will be recruiting channel partners to resell its virtual lab automation products.
The vendor's flagship product, Slingshot, builds on virtual machine technology from VMware and Microsoft. It enables test organisations to automate rapid set up, teardown and capture of any complex software configurations.
"We have got good relationships with VMware and Microsoft because our products sit on their platforms," Poulos said. "We will look to work with their major virtualisation partners."
Akimbi currently has two authorised resellers - Capitalhead and Technical Architecture Solutions - but Poulos is keen to appoint more.
"I will be looking for specialists with a good understanding of the virtualisation space that have dealt with Microsoft or VMware virtual servers," he said.
"As we begin to understand the nuances of the market, we will talk to distributors about what value they can add."
