Since winning the sole distribution rights for Via Technologies' embedded products business in the southern hemisphere, BCN Technology has started making inroads into the New Zealand market.
The NSW-based company was in the final stages of appointing two sub-distributors in New Zealand and is currently looking for a third, managing director, Ken Lowe, said.
Further sub-distribution and reseller appointments are expected in regions including the South Pacific and Southern Africa.
Locally, Lowe said BCN had about 300 resellers of embedded Via products.
He claimed this figure could double within the next 12 months as it sought to add non-traditional resellers, including software developers, to the mix.
"The embedded products aren't always best distributed based on quantity, but the actual technical know-how and experiences of the reseller," he said.
Embedded products, such as motherboards, typically find their way into devices including poker machines, jukeboxes, kiosks and point-of-sale terminals.
BCN will promote its embedded business to Australian partners this month through a forum.
"We are keen to get our partners talking to each other. It will be advantageous for them to hear about other success stories and to get some lateral thinking going," Lowe said.
