Toshiba is relocating its main headquarters to a new four-floor, 5600sqm premises in Sydney's North Ryde.
The technology vendor previously had its four divisions - Information Systems (ISD), Electronic Imaging (EID), Medical and Research & Development - spread across three buildings, also in North Ryde. The combined facility will house 400 staff.
Toshiba ISD general manager, Mark Whittard, said the company had outgrown each of its office premises. This had given it the opportunity to consolidate. "In the new building we have room for the four divisions in addition to corporate services, with some space to spare," he said. Toshiba has also separated out its ISD distribution, MobileCare Service Centre, repair/configuration facilities and warehouse for EID and medical products into another location in Homebush.
Whittard said the new distribution centre would benefit Toshiba partners by making it easy to access products.
The distribution centre has 6500sqm of warehouse space which is 2000 more than current facilities. A repair and configuration area occupies a further 1000sqm.
"The Homebush facility is purpose built and also takes us from three loading docks to five, which will make receive and dispatch a lot quicker," Whittard said.
Toshiba estimates the new facility will handle 1100 orders per day, at an average of 7500 items.
