American Power Conversion (APC) has moved to a new Melbourne office complete with a demonstration centre that can be used by channel partners.
Southern Cross Computer Services (SCCS) CEO, Mark Kalmus, said the reseller had taken an educational institution through the facility during the past fortnight. A deal for more than $500,000 worth of kit is on the line and Kalmus suggested the new centre might just clinch it.
"There's no doubt the facility will help sales," he said. "Once you get people into a facility like this, they can start to visualise things. It's not just words on paper."
Estimating the Australian data centre market at more than $900 million per year, APC is also on the lookout for new channel partners, according to local boss, Gordon Makryllos.
Its 12 gold partners were likely to see a handful of new players added to their ranks, he said, while the company would aim to double silver numbers to 40.
