Networking distributor, Bax IT, has bumped up its product portfolio through a new partnership with US-based wired and wireless hardware vendor, Trendnet.
Business development manager, Matthew Mann, said it was the first wholesaler brought onboard by Trendnet to service the A/NZ market.
Bax IT will have access to about half of Trendnet's 200 products ranging from gigabit, fibre, VoIP, KVM switches and routers through to IP cameras, Bluetooth Skype phones, Firewire connectivity and print and storage servers. They will be targeted at home and small business users.
Mann said the kit would come up against more established networking brands such as Belkin, Netgear and D-Link.
"As there are a few networking guys in Australia, we will need end-user awareness," he said. "So we will actively promote the products during the next six months."
The products were well-suited to Bax's existing range of IP-based networking products including its Secure Computing Internet firewalls, according to Mann.
"At the moment our resellers are buying networking and wireless gear from someone else," he said. "These products could tie in with our IP cameras, firewalls and the like."
Bax was now looking to recruit new engineers to provide pre-sales services as well as support for its dealers.
It was also calling on resellers to sign up to Trendnet's reseller program. Authorised Trendnet partners would be entitled to marketing and sales rebates as well as training and support from Bax.
Partners would be differentiated through specialisations across different product categories, Mann said.
The distributor was keen to sign up retailers as well as resellers servicing the SMB space, he said.
The Trendnet products will be officially launched at the Australian leg of the CeBit tradeshow next month.
