New VT-AN400 Series VTL Appliance Extends ADTX’s Existing OEM Relationship with FalconStor

Sydney, Australia – March 2 2005-FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), a leading developer of network storage infrastructure software solutions, today announced that Advanced Technology and Systems Co., Ltd. (ADTX) is extending its existing OEM partnership with FalconStor by introducing its new VT-AN400 Series, powered by FalconStor’s VirtualTape Library solution.

The VTL Appliance from ADTX enhances the speed and reliability of existing third party backup applications by using disks to emulate industry standard tape libraries, and by transferring data to, and restoring it from, disk-based virtual tape at ultra high speeds. The appliance also maximises reliability by removing robotic mechanical failures and physical tape media errors.

“The Virtual Tape Library market is gaining momentum and rapidly growing in Japan. When bringing our own VTL appliance into the market, it made natural sense to extend our existing OEM partnership with FalconStor,” said ADTX President & CEO Fusahiko Hasegawa. “Leveraging FalconStor’s VTL solution in our VT-AN400 Series appliance eliminates the need for a rigid backup window, without re-architecting a business’ backup infrastructure and procedures. This type of solution is in demand and will open new revenue opportunities for our company.”

ADTX is leveraging its ArrayMasStor L series as the basis for the VTL appliance, combining its cost-effectiveness with features of high performance and high reliability with VTL’s accelerated backup and restore functionality, for an unprecedented ratio of price to performance. With a flexible pricing structure, the VT-AN400 Series’ storage capacity ranges from 3 to 14.4 terabytes.

“We are honoured that ADTX has chosen to incorporate FalconStor’s VirtualTape Library solution into their new line of VTL appliances,” said Alex Jiang, FalconStor vice president, sales & marketing, Asia-Pacific region. “ADTX’s VT-AN400 Series is an example of our growing relationship, one which provides mid-range companies a compact, efficient solution to data storage backup and recovery.”

The VT-AN400 Series, launching in late March 2005, is manufactured by ADTX and is available from ADTX and its resellers.

About the FalconStor Virtual Tape Library Solution

FalconStor’s Virtual Tape Library solution optimises the performance and reliability of backup/restore operations without requiring changes to be made to the existing backup software. Extensive qualifications have been conducted to ensure the interoperability between the VTL solution and third party backup applications. In addition to improving performance and reliability, FalconStor’s VTL facilitates the consolidation and provisioning of backup resources (tape library and media) to lower administrative costs.
