Veritas claims it has upgraded its partner program to help resellers deliver utility computing.
The software vendor’s managing director for A/NZ, Bruce Lakin, said partners would be expected to offer higher levels of service and a full product range following its recent distribution cull.
The company’s storage virtualisation and server consolidations offerings would be key drivers of utility computing, he said, and would be pushed more aggressively through retained distributors Ingram Micro and Express Data.
Working with the pair, the vendor would also build more capacity into premium resellers, Lakin said.
Both distributors had a strong reseller base, Lakin continued, and activity programs would be created to make them better equipped to deliver utility computing.
Veritas would be more active in training resellers, there would be more promotions and new products, he added. Recent product releases include systems management and data centre automation tools.
Express Data software division manager, Donna Adam, said the new partner program would see the distributor looking after some Veritas' premiere partners in place of the vendor's account managers (elite partners will remain with Veritas).
"They (resellers) will be using our ability around marketing, annuity and other areas to be highly focused on Veritas. We will now sit down with them and put plans together," she said.
