Ingram Micro has launched an ecommerce solution to assist dealers in developing comprehensive and professional online facilities.
TechLink4U will enable dealers to build slick hosted websites offering end-users product information from the distributor's portfolio of more than 100 vendors. Key features include built-in SSL security, multiple payment methods and marketing content.
The project has been licensed from Intersell, which has been offering its CampaignBuilder online marketing tool exclusively to Ingram partners since 2004. Resellers could currently choose from one of eight basic or advanced templates, Intersell general manager, Wayne Troy, said.
Intersell has launched its own design division but resellers could also take the tool to a graphic designer for a completely customised version.
Resellers manage all aspects of their site via an administration interface, which means no programming knowledge is required.
TechLink4U was currently being beta tested by 10 resellers, Ingram sales director, John Walters, said.
"It's important we don't end up with a thousand of these sites looking exactly the same," he said. "But if you look at the few that have been beta testing for a while, you wouldn't realise they had been created from the same website."
Once the site is live, end-users select products to put in a shopping cart and place an order. If the dealer approves the sale, it goes straight into the Ingram warehouse and is shipped directly to the user.
Any hardware purchase over $500 is eligible for finance through a partnership with Flexirent, which adds a small rebate to the sale for the reseller.
